Disjointed
Inspired by Philip Schafer’s Bad Summons
Pink petals dance in the breeze
Plum trees
At the base of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains
Blood of Christ
Who was never there
But on a Sunday afternoon
When the sun hits just right
The opaque air sings
I can see why someone would believe
God made those mountains
For his children
Atomic bomb
lives down the river
Radioactive
Decay
The scientists didn’t know
They would be killing kids
Whole lives.
Radioactive
Lilacs bloom in spring
Unaware
Snow
Snow falls in like a silent sheet
Covers the ground a cloak of invisibility
Beautiful unique dressed up snow flakes
Spinning in the air building beautiful coats for trees
Sometimes I wish I was a snowflake
I suppose I am one of many
And the cold is coming we aren’t melting
Dark days we are dominating
Changing the world, we want a cooler place to live
Safe from the melting
